Wildlife Watching

There are wonderful urban centers that offer exploration, but discovering the “true Alaska” is more often about the state’s spectacularly pristine backcountry and the sorts of wildlife inhabiting it. Many impressive creatures call Alaska home, roaming the landscape and impressing anyone lucky enough to catch a glimpse. There are countless opportunities to get up close and personal with wild locals, including observing marine wildlife around Point Adolphus; bear viewing in Redoubt Bay or spotting Dall sheep in Denali. Not every wildlife encounter may be planned, so keep your eyes and ears open – you’re in the rugged and wild 49th state where anything could happen.
