  • Tutka Bay Lodge

    This 4-star property is situated on Tutka Bay, a splendidly rugged fjord that reaches six miles into the glacier-studded Kenai Mountains. About 25 minutes by boat from Homer, the Lodge sits on ten acres and includes six guest cabins, a main lodge, a large deck for viewing, a sauna and hot tub. All guest cabins boast views of Tutka Bay and the Kachemak Bay State Park. The owners have an interest in Alaska cuisine, and the so experiences here emphasize culinary excellence and education (join the owner/chef in the kitchen for an impromptu wine tasting or cooking class!).

  • Redoubt Bay Lodge

    Situated 50 minutes southwest of Anchorage by air, at the entrance to Lake Clark Pass, Redoubt Bay Lodge offers the only accommodations within a 171,000-acre critical habitat area. Accessible only by floatplane, the Lodge is set on a knoll overlooking Big River Lakes. The small main lodge is a hand-hewn historic log cabin, while three guest cabins are heated by wood stoves and feature private baths. Accommodations are comfortable, and the staff and service exceptional. Travel + Leisure magazine named Redoubt Bay Lodge one of 50 Great American Adventures in 2005.

  • Winterlake Lodge

    Named one of America’s best lodges by Travel + Leisure magazine, Winterlake Lodge is an oasis of stunning scenery, sophisticated comforts, and wilderness adventures. Located nearly 200 miles northwest of Anchorage, on the route of the world famous Iditarod dog sled race, Carl and Kirsten Dixon’s remote log lodge sits on 15 acres overlooking Finger Lake and the Tordrillo Mountains. The main building includes a comfortable room for relaxing by the fire and viewing the lake from large picture windows, along with a dining area and large kitchen (Kirsten has published two cookbooks—so you can expect excellent cuisine). Other amenities include a yoga room, massage therapy, hot tub, and lakeside wood-burning sauna. Guest accommodations are in smaller log cabins with private baths.

Day 1
Upon your afternoon arrival at the Anchorage Airport, board an ERA Aviation flight bound for Homer. There, you will transfer to Homer Harbor, from where a water taxi will deliver you to your remote for the night. Accommodations are at Tutka Bay Wilderness Lodge, Cabin

Day 2
Enjoy the many activities available at and around the lodge, including hiking, clamming, fishing, wildlife viewing, birding, ocean kayaking, cooking classes, and much more. (Or, for an additional fee, take a helicopter tour over the Harding Ice Field.) Accommodations are at the Tutka Bay Wilderness Lodge, Cabin

Day 3
Paddle among the small coves and inlets around Tutka Bay Wilderness Lodge, hike up a mountain for a breathtaking panorama of Kachemak Bay and Cook Inlet, tour the coast by boat, or just take in the scenery from the deck. Late afternoon, you will board a floatplane that offers spectacular views of the Cook Inlet en route to Redoubt Bay. Accommodations are at Redoubt Bay Lodge, Cabin

Day 4
Engage in any number of activities at the Lodge, including sport fishing, bear viewing (the area boasts one of the densest bear populations in the state), hiking, and kayaking / canoeing. Late afternoon, board another floatplane bound for Finger Lake, 200 miles northwest of Anchorage. Accommodations are at Winterlake Lodge, Cabin

Day 5
A full-day allows you to enjoy any number of activities at Winterlake Lodge: hike along the historic Iditarod Sled Dog Trail, or along Wolverine Ridge, which offers views of Mt. McKinley; go kayaking or canoeing; take a yoga class or therapeutic massage; or enjoy a cooking class with the resident chef. Accommodations are at Winterlake Lodge, Cabin

Day 6
Today’s adventures are supported by a Robinson R-44 helicopter—allowing you to explore the pristine backcountry surrounding the lodge. Your options include sportfishing, rafting on the wild Happy River, hiking to a glacier ridge, glacier trekking on a rarely-visited section of the Alaska Range, and dining on Wolverine Ridge. Day 7
The better part of the day is spent at the Lodge, where you can enjoy more active adventures, or simply revel in the serene surroundings one last time. Late afternoon, you’ll board a floatplane for Anchorage and Lake Hood. For dinner tonight, we leave you to dine on your own, choose from one of our favorite restaurants. Day 8
Your driver will transport you from your hotel to Anchorage Airport in time for your outbound flight. Safe travels!
