  • Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge

    Set on a ridge above the small community of Talkeetna on the south side of Mt. McKinley, the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge offers unforgettable views of Mt. McKinley and the Alaska Range. The 212 guest rooms are complemented by two restaurants, a bar, a business center, and a spacious lobby featuring a 46-foot river rock fireplace. The seasonal, four-diamond property, which is located two hours north of Anchorage, rests on 35 acres and comprises eight buildings: a main lodge, five guest lodges, employee housing, and a maintenance facility. It’s the only lodge in the Park that offers guest rooms facing Mt. McKinley.

Day 1
Upon your arrival at the airport in Anchorage, your driver will transport you to your hotel in Girdwood. Accommodations are at the Hotel Alyeska, Summit Deluxe Room

Day 2
Two very special Alaskan activities await you today. First, you’ll board a helicopter bound for the extraordinary world of ice fields and glaciers—and your own dogsledding adventure. You’ll harness the dogs and hit the trail for the ultimate Alaskan experience. Later, enjoy outstanding views of the Girdwood Valley as you make your way ice trekking onto the Alyeska Glacier itself. Day 3
A private drive transports you down the Kenai Peninsula to the coastal city of Seward via some of the most spectacular scenery in the country—and a stop at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. From Seward Harbor, you’ll set off on a six-hour cruise of Kenai Fjords National Park, a geological wonderland where frozen deserts of glaciers and ice caps share quarters with bears, whales and other wildlife. Return home via the famous Alaska Railroad dome train. Accommodations are at the Hotel Alyeska, Summit Deluxe Room

Day 4
Your personal driver will transport you to Talkeetna via one of the most continuously spectacular drives anywhere, with the Chugach Mountain Range to the south and the Talkeetna Mountains to the north. Along the way, you’ll stop to visit the fascinating Alaska Native Heritage Center, as well as Happy Trails Kennel—famous for its championship sled dogs. Day 5
Today’s Mt. McKinley flightseeing adventure will reveal the Sheldon Amphitheater, beautiful Ruth Glacier, and the Great Gorge (the world’s deepest at almost two miles). You’ll fly to the remote western end of Denali National Park before landing on a glacier and stepping onto a snowfield. Moving from air to water, spend the afternoon traveling through the Chulitna River Gorge and experiencing Class 2 and 3 whitewater aboard a jet boat. Day 6
Slow down and immerse yourself in Alaska’s tranquil beauty on a guided nature walk in Denali State Park. Enjoy magnificent views of the mountains as you make your way to an abandoned log cabin and beautiful Byers Lake. Watch for bears, loons and eagles as you learn about their natural habitat. Accommodations are at Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge, Mountainside Room

Day 7
Meet your driver mid-morning for the scenic drive back to Anchorage, then explore the state’s largest city before you choose from any of a number of great restaurants for dinner on your own. Accommodations are at Hotel Captain Cook, Junior Suite

Day 8
Your driver will transport you from your hotel to the Anchorage airport in time for your return flight. Safe travels!
