  • Redoubt Bay Lodge

Situated 50 minutes southwest of Anchorage by air, at the entrance to Lake Clark Pass, Redoubt Bay Lodge offers the only accommodations within a 171,000-acre critical habitat area. Accessible only by floatplane, the Lodge is set on a knoll overlooking Big River Lakes. The small main lodge is a hand-hewn historic log cabin, while three guest cabins are heated by wood stoves and feature private baths. Accommodations are comfortable, and the staff and service exceptional. Travel + Leisure magazine named Redoubt Bay Lodge one of 50 Great American Adventures in 2005.

  • Hotel Captain Cook

Arguably the only luxury hotel in Anchorage, and boasting downtown’s only four-diamond restaurant, the Captain Cook offers top service and accommodations for international travelers. Three restaurants, an athletic club, a full business center, and 14 shopping venues complement the 547 guest rooms. Perhaps the best features of the centrally-located hotel are its panoramic views of Cook Inlet, the Chugach Mountains, the Anchorage cityscape, and Mt. McKinley.

This 3-day/ 2-night post-cruise extension offers an opportunity to view bears in the Redoubt Bay area, which boasts one of the densest bear populations in the State. As the bears wander down to the lake to fish for salmon, you’ll have the opportunity to see them up close. You’ll also enjoy incredible sightseeing during floatplane rides to and from the lodge, and along the dramatic Seward Highway.
