Private Alaskan Cruise Shore Excursions
Seward is the embarkation and disembarkation point for most cruises from Vancouver, B.C. and Seattle. We’ve arranged for a wide variety of day trips that can be enjoyed pre- or post-cruise en route between Anchorage and the cruise ship terminal in Seward. Southcentral Alaska is one of the best areas of the state to explore, and we’ve designed our tours to make the most of the time you’ll have in the area before or after your cruise. Each of them offers a relaxing and private alternative to the mass transfer options offered by the cruise companies.
Transfer with Glacier Dogsledding
For many, this is the quintessential Alaska experience. A private transfer between the Seward ship dock and the Anchorage International Airport or hotel includes a 2-hour helicopter glacier dogsledding trip. After a brief helicopter ride, your guide will explain the origins of this special breed of dogs, mushing history, and the Iditarod, known as “The Last Great Race on Earth.”
Your guide’s passion for the sport is evident as he speaks about the Iditarod race and his lifelong commitment to the dogs and the sport of mushing. He will tell you how to properly care for the dogs in order to maximize their racing abilities as well as show you how to harness the dogs and speak to you about the science involved in race preparations.
You will have the hands-on opportunity to help with harnessing the dogs and you’ll witness the excitement as they are put in front of a sled. Accompanied by your guide, they’ll take you onto the trail. This is not to be missed during your Alaskan adventure! In addition, you will stop for lunch (on your own) and a bit of sightseeing en route to Anchorage. Unforgettable!

Redoubt Bay Lodge Bear Viewing & Natural History Tour
Alaska is a land of great experiences, but none quite matches a stream with brown bears feeding on salmon. We have arranged for this amazing experience as a day adventure on a pristine lake by a small, comfortable lodge. Your private driver will transfer you from the Seward Cruise Terminal to Lake Hood, America’s largest floatplane base. You will fly 50 minutes across Cook Inlet to the Redoubt Bay Bear Sanctuary.
You’ll have lunch at Redoubt Bay Lodge, and then spend three hours in a boat viewing bears at any one of five salmon spawning streams accessible by boat from the lodge. This is one of the safest and most comfortable ways to view bears up close – from a comfortable boat on the water. You will return to Anchorage by floatplane in the early evening, arriving at about 7:00 p.m. Your driver/guide will transfer you the short distance from Lake Hood to the terminal for your outbound flight, or to your Anchorage hotel.
