  • Hotel Captain Cook

Arguably the only luxury hotel in Anchorage, and boasting downtown’s only four-diamond restaurant, the Captain Cook offers top service and accommodations for international travelers. Three restaurants, an athletic club, a full business center, and 14 shopping venues complement the 547 guest rooms. Perhaps the best features of the centrally-located hotel are its panoramic views of Cook Inlet, the Chugach Mountains, the Anchorage cityscape, and Mt. McKinley.

This 8-day/ 7-night adventure is based out of the new Tordrillo Mountain Lodge. Part of the Alaska Range, the Tordrillo Mountains are located just 75 miles west of Anchorage yet remain one of the most remote and untouched ranges in all of Alaska. Hundreds of glaciers, granite spires, and the largest mountains in North America provide a surreal backdrop. These are ski lines that only nature could design, with endless steep and incised couloirs set in golden granite that catches the light. It is rapidly becoming known as one of the most spectacular and sought-after heliski locations in the world, and is perfect for advanced intermediate and expert skiers.

Heli Skiing Alaska from Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Day 1
Upon your arrival in Anchorage, your driver will transport you to your hotel for the evening. Wander the state’s largest city before dinner on your own at any number of great restaurants (we can offer you plenty of suggestions). Accommodations are at the Hotel Captain Cook, Junior Suite

Day 2
From Lake Hood, board a skiplane for the 40-minute flight to your hotel, on the banks of the Talachulitna River and Judd Lake. Settle in to your cozy room before a dinner of regional Alaska cuisine. Accommodations are at the Tordrillo Mountain Lodge, Standard Room

Days 3-7
Ski the Tordrillo Mountains. Some of the peaks are volcanic with large deposits of cinder and teffra. The entire Tordrillo complex sits on top of a large granite batholith, surrounded by sedimentary deposits that result in fantastic skiing and boarding. The erosiveness combined with the glacial activity has carved outstanding ski runs throughout the range. Granite bulges with incised couloirs and towers keep things interesting. Most runs range between 3,000 and 4,000 vertical feet, with great landings and pickup zones. Denali National Park, just 30 miles away, offers panoramic views of the largest peak in North America. After a long but satisfying day on the slopes, take a sauna or soak in the Lodge’s oversized hot tub. Accommodations are at the Tordrillo Mountain Lodge, Standard Room

Day 8
Board your skiplane for the return flight to Anchorage. Upon landing, a private driver will transport you to the airport in Anchorage. Safe travels!
