Cruise Shore Excursions Canada

The way we feel about cruises is not dissimilar to the way we feel about most any travel experience: once you’re here, make the most of it. Cruises to Canada often leave out the outstanding urban centres that serve as embarkation and disembarkation points. Rather than miss out on world-class cities like Vancouver, Victoria, Montréal and Québec City, we encourage you to take the time to explore. On two-night trip extensions—scheduled for either before or after the cruise portion of your trip—we’ll show you the classic sites, take you on an art and architecture tour, focus solely on the outdoors, or introduce you to the culinary and cultural highlights. Just tell us how much time you have and what activities interest you most, and we’ll arrange everything.

West Coast Wonders

Bordered by the Coast Mountain Range and the Pacific Ocean, Vancouver is widely considered one of the world’s most beautiful, livable, and “green” cities—a reputation that has only been bolstered by recent improvements to infrastructure (not to mention sports facilities) thanks to its role as host of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Vancouver is also one of Canada’s most multicultural centres, with more than 25% of the population claiming Chinese as their first language. On a three-day pre- or post-cruise program, settle into one of the city’s many world-class hotels (we work with the Shangri-La Hotel, Four Seasons Vancouver, Fairmont Pacific Rim, Sheraton Wall Centre for starters) and let us introduce you to Chinatown, Stanley Park, historic Gastown, plus chic shopping and dining districts.

Alternatively—or additionally—let us whisk you up the Sea to Sky Highway to the outdoor wonderland that is Whistler. The Four Seasons Resort Whistler or the Fairmont Chateau Whistler is an ideal base for exploring the charming village as well as enjoying the outdoor activities for which the mountain resort is famous. Options include golf, mountain biking, hiking, floatplane and helicopter flight-seeing, interpretive walks and more.

Similarly easy to access from downtown Vancouver—and easily combined with a stay there—is classic-Victoria, also known as Canada’s “garden city,” and its most traditionally English. Helicopters and seaplanes are the quickest means of transport across the Strait of Georgia to Vancouver Island and Victoria itself, where the landmark Fairmont Empress provides luxurious accommodations. Sightseeing highlights include the Inner Harbour, Butchart Gardens, the Parliament Buildings, and the Royal B.C. Museum.

South of the border, Seattle is another West Coast cruising hub that we love to help travellers discover. Two nights based out of the Four Seasons Seattle will leave plenty of time for exploring Pike Place Market, the National Historic District, Seattle Art Museum, the Japanese Garden, Ballard Locks and more.

Eastern Delights

Montréal and Québec City are two of North America’s largest French-speaking cities—and certain among its most cosmopolitan. In Montréal, fine dining is an art form, and Le Saint-Sulpice Hotel offers an ideal based for exploring Notre Dame Basilica and the other historic buildings of Old Montréal on a private walking tour.

The provincial capital of Québec City is a UNESCO World Heritage City, and the only walled city in North America. Its cobbled pedestrian quarter is as romantic as it is historic, and we strongly encourage a two-night stay at the city’s landmark hotel, Fairmont Château Frontenac, overlooking the St. Lawrence River. Let us introduce you to the art and architecture of New France!
