After landing in Charlottetown, pick up your rental car and drive 10 minutes to The Great George, an elegant heritage property perfectly placed for strolls to the city’s glittering waterfront. The remainder of the day is your own to browse downtown’s bustling shops, cafes and museums – might we recommend dining on freshly caught mussels and craft beer on a harbourside patio? Accommodations are at The Great George in a One-bedroom Suite.
2 | CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI
Rise and shine! Start your day at Victoria by the Sea, a peaceful pocket of the island that attracts artists and artisans seeking laidback vibes and an inspiring setting. In this storybook village, you can tuck into the region’s famed lobster rolls, kayak along the Northumberland Strait, or wander romantic red sand beaches. Next, it’s onward to Lennox Island, where the Mi’kmaq First Nation will introduce you to their culture and traditions, including a sampling of bannock cooked in the sand and grilled oysters. Accommodations are at The Great George in a One-bedroom Suite.
3 | SAINT PETERS BAY, PEI
Keep your camera close today, as you tour Prince Edward Island’s beautiful coastline and sandy beaches, historic fishing ports and lighthouses, and seaside villages. Follow the scenic Central Coast Drive, stopping at your leisure at the beaches in Prince Edward Island National Park, or the iconic lighthouses at New London and Covehead. Towards the east, at Greenwich, you’ll see massive parabolic sand dunes, as well as hiking trails leading through wooded areas. Here, you can also traverse a floating boardwalk, which leads over grassy dunes and marshland, as well as the ocean’s waves. Accommodations are at 45 Steps – The Culinary Beachside Inn in the Tower Suite.
4 | SAINT PETERS BAY, PEI
Prince Edward Island is known for its abundance of local shellfish. Today, you’ll learn how they are caught and prepared with third-generation fisher Perry Gotell. You’ll climb aboard a lobster boat and cruise to a deserted island, then scour the sand for giant clams. After steaming and sampling your catch, head back to sea and learn more about shellfish fishing, see historical landmarks, and watch for marine wildlife. In the evening, prepare for a symphony of island flavours at the Fireworks Feast, hosted by acclaimed Chef Michael Smith at The Inn at Bay Fortune. Tour the chef’s garden, explore the mushroom patch and apple orchard, and taste local oysters to your heart’s content. There’s also a champagne toast and multicourse meal, culminating in housemade marshmallows roasted over an open fire. Accommodations are at 45 Steps – The Culinary Beachside Inn in the Tower Suite.
