Bear Viewing at Redoubt Bay Lodge

This post-cruise extension offers an opportunity to view bears in the Redoubt Bay area, which boasts one of the densest bear populations in the state. As the bears wander down to the lake to fish for salmon, you’ll have the opportunity to see them up close. You’ll also enjoy incredible sightseeing during floatplane rides to and from the lodge, and along the dramatic Seward Highway.

The Itinerary

Day 1

After disembarking from your cruise ship, you will be driven by private transfer to Anchorage along the spectacular Seward Highway. Midday, you will board a floatplane that offers spectacular views of the Cook Inlet en route to Redoubt Bay. From the Lodge, head out for an afternoon of fly-fishing or just enjoy the natural beauty of the Redoubt Bay Critical Habitat area. Accommodations are at the Redoubt Bay Lodge.

Day 2

Engage in any number of activities at the Lodge, including hiking, kayaking, canoeing, and of course bear viewing—with a trained naturalist taking you by boat for an up close and safe view of the Lodge’s nearest neighbors. After lunch, board a floatplane bound for Anchorage. There, explore on your own and enjoy dinner at one of our recommended restaurants. Accommodations are at the Hotel Captain Cook in a Junior Suite.

Day 3

Your driver will transport you from the hotel to Anchorage International Airport in time for your departing flight. Safe travels!
