Explore The Last Frontier’s diverse landscape, impressive scenery, and wild residents by land, sea and air.  Starting in Fairbanks, you’ll ride Alaska Rail in luxury to Denali where you’ll explore the park and its inhabitants, reveling in the majestic mountain peaks.  From there it’s on to luxurious Stillpoint Lodge, situated on Halibut Cove. Paddle alongside glaciers and spot oceanic wildlife as you explore Kachemak Bay State Wilderness Park.

The Itinerary

Day 1

Upon your arrival at the Fairbanks Airport, you will board a shuttle to your hotel. Sitting on the Chena River in Fairbanks, Pike’s Waterfront Lodge is ideally positioned for exploring Fairbanks or simply enjoying the river views from the comfort of your room. Accommodations are at the Pike’s Waterfront Lodge in a Deluxe River View Room.

Day 2

This morning your shuttle will transfer to the Railway Station, where you board your GoldStar Dome Train for Denali National Park. The double-deck railcar features a glass-covered observation deck that is the first of its kind in the world, and your GoldStar service guarantees you upper-level dome car seating, priority check-in and boarding, and jaw-dropping views for your four-hour journey into Denali. Accommodations are at the Denali Backcountry Lodge in a Creekside Cabin.

Day 3

Explore Denali National Park today, with or without expert guides. You may wish to hike the nearby trails and observe wildlife and flora native to the Kantishna Hills. If you want to get your heart racing, hop on a mountain bike and tear through the park or enjoy a leisurely pedal to spectacular Wonder Lake. If you’re a shutterbug, Denali offers endless photo ops, courtesy of its dramatic mountain peaks and meadows. Accommodations are at Denali Backcountry Lodge in a Cabin.

Day 4

Mid-morning you’ll meet your pilot for a scenic flight tour over Denali National Park. Soar over the North Face of Denali and a number of side glaciers. Denali National Park & Preserve features North America’s highest peak, 20,320-foot tall Denali, and you have a front-row seat! Enjoy a return trip on the Alaska Railway GoldStar Dome Train to Anchorage, where a private Sedan will transport you to your hotel. Accommodations are at The Lakefront Anchorage.

Day 5

Today your driver will meet you at your hotel for your private Sedan transfer to Lake Hood. Your scenic floatplane journey lasts just over an hour, and is a mix of jaw-dropping coastal and mountain vistas. Once you’re settled, take some time to explore the lodge and surrounding area. Located amongst the pristine wilderness on Halibut Cove, take some time to explore your surroundings before enjoying a gourmet lunch. Accommodations are at the Stillpoint Lodge in a Cabin.

Day 6

Take to the skies today on a wildlife and glacier tour by helicopter. Soar over icefields, along waterfalls and in between jagged mountains on this experience-of-a-lifetime! You may catch a glimpse of black bears, mountain goats, moose, sea otters, seals and a variety of birds. Spend the afternoon at your own leisure; options include a massage, a dip in the hot tub, or simply enjoying the views overlooking Halibut Cove. Accommodations are at Stillpoint Lodge in a Cabin.

Day 7

Today experience three adventures in one as you boat to the trailhead, then hike a mile to Grewingk Glacier Lake. From there hop in a kayak with your guide and paddle among icebergs as you approach the face of the glacier. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the shoreline, and soak up the scenery. Wildlife is abundant in this area, and you may spot moose, black bear, mountain goats and a wide variety of birds. Accommodations are at Stillpoint Lodge in a Cabin.

Day 8

After a hearty breakfast you’ll board your boat transfer from Stillpoint Lodge to Homer Spit. From Homer Spit you’ll receive a shuttle transfer to the Homer Airport, where you’ll board your commercial flight(s) home (commercial flight not included in price). Safe travels!
