DAY EXCURSION | ALERT BAY, BC

This jam-packed day showcases the best of Kwakwaka’wakw culture, Grizzly bears and wildlife within the Great Bear Rainforest and the fascinating history of the U’mista people. Beginning in Vancouver, your private seaplane charter will deliver you to Robson Bight, where a short kayak lesson will acquaint you with the waters. Paddle around this ecological reserve, designated a protected habitat for Northern Resident Killer Whales. Watch as they frolic, feast on fish and rub up on the shores surrounding Robson Bight. This exciting kayaking journey will work up your appetite, and after short private seaplane ride to Alert Bay it’s time for lunch.

DAY EXCURSION | ALERT BAY, BC

Enjoy a barbequed salmon meal on the beach as you learn about traditional hunting and gathering methods of the Kwakwaka’wakw people. Salmon plays an important role in the lives and economy of the Kwakwaka’wakw, both past and present. After lunch, spend some time learning about the U’mista people with a guided tour of the U’mista Cultural Centre. Each mask, relic or piece of artwork tells an important story and sheds light on a once-forgotten time. Once your guided cultural tour is complete, board your private seaplane charter for a scenic one-hour flight back to downtown Vancouver.
