This trip is designed for outdoor enthusiasts, offering a number of opportunities to view whales and bears, and to experience two very different settings: Desolation Sound—the largest and perhaps best known marine park in British Columbia—and downtown Vancouver. You’ll enjoy up-close views of grizzly bears, orcas, sea lions, dolphins and more. From Vancouver, you’ll travel to Victoria for more whale watching and to explore Canada’s most English city.

The Itinerary

1 | SONORA ISLAND, BC

Upon your arrival at the Vancouver Airport, your driver will transport you to the airport’s south terminal for your scheduled one-hour helicopter flight to Desolation Sound and your luxury retreat on the Inside Passage of Vancouver Island. Start enjoying the five-star amenities prior to your first five-course dinner accompanied by award-winning B.C. wines. All meals and drinks are included at Sonora Resort, with the exception of premium alcohol. Accommodations are at Sonora Resort in a Gold Room.

2-4 | SONORA ISLAND, BC

Begin discovering your surroundings today on a guided zodiac tour of the sheltered waters, islands and bays of Desolation Sound. As you tour the Bute Inlet, Aaran and Yuculta rapids, and surrounding waterways, stop to view wildlife such as black bear, porpoises, bald eagles, whales, and other sea and land creatures. Accommodations are at Sonora Resort in a Gold Room.

Enjoy a guided grizzly bear viewing tour on your third day, experience the presence of the magnificent grizzlies as they feed on salmon on the banks of the beautiful Orford River in Bute Inlet. In the afternoon, consider a hike to pristine Florence Lake.

Continue to enjoy the resort on your fourth day, either by relaxing at the spa or partaking in any number of additional activities on offer, including golf, hiking, white water rafting on the Nimpkish River, kayaking on the Inside Passage, guided salmon- and fly-fishing, and helicopter-supported glacier tours.

5 | VANCOUVER, BC

After enjoying the better part of the day at Sonora Resort a scheduled helicopter flight will transport you back to Vancouver, where you will be met by a driver and delivered to your hotel downtown Just in time for dinner! Accommodations are at the Fairmont Pacific Rim in a Deluxe Partial Harbourview Room.

6 | VANCOUVER, BC

Wander the short distance to the seaplane terminal for your scenic seaplane flight to Victoria. There, you’ll join a three-hour whale watching tour, racing through the seas in an open-aired Zodiac. Later, explore Victoria’s Old Town and the oldest Chinatown in Canada, visit famed Butchart Gardens, or take tea at The Fairmont Empress. Return to Vancouver by seaplane at the end of the day. Accommodations are at the Fairmont Pacific Rim in a Deluxe Partial Harbourview Room.

7 | VANCOUVER, BC

Depending on the timing of your outbound flight, take a walk in Stanley Park or along chic Robson Street before being picked up at your hotel for the transfer to Vancouver airport. Safe travels!
